Matthew 6:33What am I seeking? What are you seeking, even as you read this? Seeking is big business in churches these days – ‘seeker-friendly’, or ‘seeker-sensitive’ are terms that get tossed around a lot. Jesus was clear about what we are to seek – the Kingdom of God. His entire message was about Kingdom – the Gospel of the Kingdom, if you will (or even if you won’t - it’s a fact).
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Jesus also said in Matthew 7:
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds...
Jesus was talking about the Kingdom … but I think it works both ways. Given our freedom of choice we can choose to seek other things. Seek the things of the flesh and you’ll find them. Seek the approval of man and you’ll get it, but at what cost?
You find what you look for … if you’re looking for someone to tell you it’s ok to live with someone out of marriage – and I mean marriage by biblical definition – you’ll find them. If you’re looking for someone to tell you it’s ok to wallow in a lifestyle of flesh-filled lusts and that there’ll be plenty of time later to get right with Jesus, you’ll certainly find them. If, however, you’re looking for the truth … start looking at the first sentence in the blog. God will never steer you wrong.
